Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they announced in a release.
Officers report they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other marked automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials state early analysis show the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any harm in connection with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking official said the incident made him stunned and required to be addressed quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on a platform, recalling the killing of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
